Connect with Charla: www.thegratefulheartsclub.com www.instagram.com/thegratefulheartsclub https://www.facebook.com/thegratefulheartsclub Charla Grant is the Founder of The Grateful Hearts Club. After experiencing a series of heart breaking events Charla had no choice but to focus on the small joys in life, what was present rather than was missing (a very useful tool for 2020). In 2019 The Grateful Hearts Club was born. A love project turned business based around sharing everything Charla has learnt about gratitude, a way to connect with creativity and ultimately turn pain into love. Cards to capture and share gratitude, merchandise to act as a subtle gratitude prompts and a series of workshops and personal coaching sessions so everyone has thankfulness in their self-care tool kit. The aim is to create a community of people with gratitude in their hearts while spreading some love and positivity at the same time. Because gratitude brings hope, and, right now we need hope more than ever. Charla can often be found day dreaming about what to eat next or on the beach with her husband Joe and dog Mable. Shoulder to Shoulder with Emma Sithole
FEB. 12, 2021
Connect with Emma: https://www.facebook.com/TRFHope www.instagram.com/trf.hope Emma is a wife and mother to two delightful children. She also has a story to tell... In 2007 she suffered a breakdown and lost all hope. Still on her recovery journey, Emma now tries to share what she has learned along the way to inspire others to discover, grow and maintain hope. Emma has now founded and runs The Recovery Foundation: "The Recovery Foundation® came about from my own journey through mental illness. In 2007 I was diagnosed with Schizo-Affective Disorder and needed several hospital stays before I was able to be treated at home. Not only was I very unwell, but I was also hopeless. Life became about surviving from one day to the next. Now, over 10 years on, things are very different. I am no longer on a cocktail of medication and no longer am I held in chains by my mental illness. I am recovering. My key to all this? FINDING HOPE. A seed of an idea began to grow; if I was able to find hope and use it to grow my recovery, maybe others could too? Maybe all that was needed was a way to help grow it? After lots of research and interviewing professionals and individuals from different communities and cultural groups, it became clear that there are very few resources available for you and me supporting our recovery. Everyone is different. But to get started, we all need hope and so The Recovery Foundation® has been developed to help grow hope wherever you are in your recovery journey, and whatever your diagnosis. I have a team of trustees and volunteers who together provide the know-how and support to make this possible. Our aim is simple; to offer practical, useful and inclusive materials that are both beautiful to look at and quality in content. Please click on the links at the top of the page for more information on the products we offer. My hope is that The Recovery Foundation® can help you have hope on your journey, Best Wishes Emma Sithole" (taken from The Recovery Foundation website [https://www.therecoveryfoundation.org.uk/about/] on 10.02.2021) Connect with Emma: https://www.facebook.com/TRFHope www.instagram.com/trf.hope Further support specific to this episode: The Recovery Foundation: https://www.therecoveryfoundation.org.uk NHS UK - Where to get urgent support for mental health: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/mental-health-services/where-to-get-urgent-help-for-mental-health/ Find an urgent Mental Health Helpline (England only): https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/mental-health/find-an-urgent-mental-health-helpline Call The Samaritans, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for anonymous support on 116 123 Text "SHOUT" to 85258 to contact the Shout Crisis Text Line, or text "YM" if you're under 19 Advice for how to cope during a mental health crisis from Mind UK: https://www.mind.org.uk/need-urgent-help/what-can-i-do-to-help-myself-cope/

Creative Projects with Kerrie Patterson
FEB. 26, 2021
***Since recording this episode a little over a month ago, Kerrie has had a bit of a change in direction in terms of where she is taking her business (as so often happens when a business is new!). She is still supporting people with healing through creativity but is focusing more on the creative process rather than the bullying support. As this is the case, you'll still find her contactable below but you'll see that her 'about' info looks a little different to when she was speaking on the podcast.*** Connect with Kerrie: www.facebook.com/kerrie.patterson.353 www.facebook.com/vintagevamped www.vintagevamped.com "Hi I'm Kerrie, upholsterer and furniture upcycler. I believe that we should all be able to make our house a home. A space as individual as us. I've always had a passion for interiors and my relaxation is in painting walls or revamping a neglected piece of furniture. I will never tire of that buzz and sense of achievement, when something drab is transformed into a thing of beauty. When I left my professional career through burn-out, it was this love of colour and creativity which helped me to heal. The therapeutic process of revamping a piece of furniture, helped my tired mind to recover. I now offer an online teaching platform where you can learn how to upholster or upcycle. Or if you fancy a bespoke piece, I can customise this for me you. I specialise in modern, eclectic patchwork so there's no limit to your design or your potential skills." Connect with Alan: https://www.facebook.com/dragonflyleadershipuk/ https://www.facebook.com/beyondcircumstancepodcast/ In Alan's words: My name is Alan Bates, I'm 48 and the lowest point of my life was the death of my daughter in January 2014. She was just 13 years old. Rhiannon died from a very rare genetic disease called Batten's Disease and even though we knew it was incurable, her death devastated my wife and I. It took 2 and a half years before I was able to return to work and another 2 and a half years after that before I stopped existing and started living again. When I started living again, I gave up my full-time job and started my own company, Dragonfly Leadership. Using the 25 years of management experience I have, combined with the life lessons Rhiannon taught me, I promote the importance of leading with the benefit of all staff in mind through 1 2 1 coaching and training. Together my wife, Shauna and I, host the Beyond Circumstance podcast which shares Rhiannon's story and lessons we learnt through her life to enable people to understand that they can overcome anything in their life that they feel is holding them back. Connect with Laura: www.votch.co.uk www.instagram.com/votchwatch www.facebook.com/votchwatch www.instagram.com/stagey From Laura: "I’m Laura, the founder of Votch, I launched Votch after suffering a debilitating condition called Topical Steroid Withdrawal, an excruciating condition that saw me lose my skin. I spent many hours in the bath, up to 20+ a day at times just to feel relief, and this went on for months on end. During my recovery, I spent a lot of time watching documentaries, including learning facts about the leather industry that truly shocked and saddened me. Having felt the pain of losing my own skin, I vowed to never wear the skin of another being again. When I recovered, and an old watch strap broke and finding a cruelty free replacement proved nigh impossible, the idea for Votch was born! A cruelty free watch company that gives back." I have been through several experiences and struggled with depression, anxiety and anxiety attacks. However I managed to overcome this through Energy work and Inner work when the traditional medical processes couldn't help. I was previously feeling lost and confused about life and was eventually led on a spiritual path, it was through this that I learned more about myself, who I truly am, my life purpose, connected with spirit and managed to start manifesting the life I truly desire. I decided to take my experience and use it to help highly committed, go getter women to overcome subconscious and energetic blocks so that they can take quantum leaps and manifest the life they truly desire both Personally and in Business. I mainly focus on subconscious reprogramming and energetics to support my mission of awakening women to connect to the truth of who they really are and step into their power. I am proud to be trained by Dr Erin Fall Haskell and a certified Soulciété Spiritual and Business Coach. Several years later she qualified as a yoga teacher and It was through this training that she felt the deep connection to inner self and witnessed the transformative benefits of yoga on her mind, body and most profoundly spirit. ‘I re-found the home of my authentic Self. It is this Self I endeavour to support people to connect with through the practice of Yoga. 'Despite the populist images you may see on social media, I have never met anyone who can’t do yoga, it is for real every day people’ These yoga practices saw me through profoundly challenging times, and in my doctors words, it would have been much worse if I had not been doing yoga. I seek now to share the science of yoga with people to help them through stress, illness, disease, discomfort and life in general. Yoga is a never ending journey and I hope to be able to offer space for comfort and ease through life. I was the one to make a change in 2015 when I just had enough and didn't want to go on living the way I was. It all started by working on myself and getting to know what I really wanted in life rather than living life thinking what was the point. I have massively grown personally and professionally and love the journey I am on and continue to be on. I love who I have become. Becoming part of something helped me to become who I am today 'a better version of me'. I was able to discover who I wanted to be and what I really wanted to do. I now help people see how they can transform their own life as there is always a better life we can always live. We can do this by nurturing, looking after yourself and learning to move forward with tiny steps, then life starts to change and we begin to see hope and a new way of being." "My mental health suffered around 2002/3 when my ex-husband left me with our 2 young girls. He had been leading a double life for around 2 years. Looking back things started to change after my second daughter was around 3 months old. I suffered with all the emotions of not feeling good enough, unattractive, why me, had to seek love and acceptance (in the wrong way) and loads more. I didn’t eat, lost so much weight, was sick every morning when I was reminded of my new life that I didn’t chose. My eldest daughter used to rub my back for me knowing her mum was hurting. My girls gave me the fight I had to change my life. Through having a blended family, it has taught me so much about myself and my insecurities that I held onto from a young age that made my story. Through this process I was reminded that I was brought into this world to make a difference, I wasn’t sure in what or how, but knew I didn’t want to go through life and not make an impact. My ex leaving was the start of my journey into becoming a therapist and getting to know myself. I am now married again with a husband that helped me and gave me space to find myself. I’m an Accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist and a Therapeutic Mindfulness Trainer. I help individuals to understand there is hope and life after experiencing challenging times. I use various creative mediums to allow the unconscious process to become conscious." Reflecting on the recording, Danielle says: "I didn't mention any of the names of the people I have lost. I did that on purpose as I wanted to be speaking for myself and my own experiences and something didn't feel right about sharing their stories and identifying them in a way that connects back to their families on a public show. While I didn't mention their names on the show for privacy, I say their names out loud to myself & write them to others regularly. I truly feel that saying their names is a way of staying close to the energy and the love." I lived in London for a decade, moved to Vietnam and I currently live and work as an English teacher in Bangkok, Thailand. From my friends and colleagues’ own words, I am “enthusiastic, hilarious, generous with time, someone who does not give up on you…” This strikes me right to the core because I know how difficult it was for me to be defined by these words and not by what I went through in my life. I’m not perfect and nothing in my life is but I’d like everyone to see life through my eyes just for one second because today I can say it loud and clear: I am happy!
